An unidentified woman whos source of livelihood has been petty street trading in the street of Calabar the capital of Cross River State where the famous Calabar carnival usually holds was captured today by a journalist identified as George on camera as she attempted to commit suicide.
This was as a result of the seizure of her goods estimates to worth around 5000 Naira by the authorities of the state incharge for preparations of the carnival.
Reporting the incident as it happened; George said "after her goods were confisticated by the commissioner and his workers and the goods thrown into the trailer, the lady ran underneath the trailer and begged to be crushed to death if they were to take her goods from her."
Carnivals are festivals held for happiness, promotion of unity and love. The big question; if the populace are not serviced properly, can a momentary happiness hold any meaning?
